Here comes the Ice Cream ManJane Bassler

Up there rounding the bend

Can’t you hear the music?

And I got a nickel to spend

Here comes Rex

To join in the fun

Just a few licks

And he can down right run

These are the days of summer

You know I wouldn’t trade

The taste of delicious ice cream

And a welcome snooze

In the shade

The Hot Dog Days of SummerJane Bassler

Let me call you sweetheart

For knowing what you do

About the Hot Dog Days of summer

And here’s a short review.

A hot car’s not a place

For a dog who wants to ride

If you’re smart

You’ll leave him home

Where he can find cool shade

And hide

The hot sunshine beats down

On a car left in the sun

Your dog wants’ to be where there’s water

And he can S-T-R-E-T-C-H and run

Perfect Days of SummerJane Bassler

Summer days are wonderful

With skies of crystal blue

Fluffy billowy clouds

Cool green grass and you.

Wonderful shade for resting

Kids riding around on trikes

Balls and Frisbees sailing about

You’ve never seen the likes.

Perfect days most everywhere

Times we want to save

The world is here

For us to enjoy

Great happiness

For those who behave.

They don’t call it Hotlanta for nothing!  This year‘s spring and summer has been exceptionally hot. Temps are soaring and predictions are this summer is going to last longer than normal. Hot weather is hard people AND pets.  With that in mind, what do you do for your pets to ensure they are able to beat the heat?

1. Exercise your pet during the coolest part of the day, which tends to be in the early morning or late evening. Think about keeping your pets safely at home rather than taking them in your vehicle.  Even leaving the windows slightly open, your car can heat up to 100 degrees, in 10 minutes or less, when it is only 80 outside (even with the windows slightly). Don’t put your pet in such a dangerous situation.
